Pickles

Right now the only pickle recipe I have is for the infamous dill pickles. I suppose that when I see Grand-Sner next, I'll get the mustard pickle recipe. I might be kind and get other pickle recipes, even though the only ones I care about are dill and mustard.

  • Dill Pickles
    • 1 quart vinegar
    • 3 quarts water
    • 1 cup pickling salt
    • 1 teaspoon alum
    • 1 teaspon garlic salt
    • three-four garlic cloves for each jar
    • 1 banana pepper for each jar
    • Enough dill weed for a good handful (can substitute dried dill and dill seed in a pinch, but fresh is preferred)
    • three or four grape leaves for each jar.
    1. Place grape leaves and garlic cloves in the bottom of each jar.
    2. Pack pickling cukes and banana pepper in each jar. (pickling cukes are SMALL...think gerhkins)
    3. Boil above ingredients and pour over cukes.
    4. Seal jars.
    5. Allow to pickles to cure for two weeks.
